Last week, USA Today had an article regarding the number of U.S. troops who have suffered a brain injury as a result of their service in the Iraq war. The article explains that a growing number of U.S. troops whose body armor helped them survive bomb and rocket attacks are suffering brain damage as a result of the blasts. Many doctors are begining to say the brain injury has become the signature wound of the Iraq war. You can read the USA Today article here as well as my earlier post on soldiers who suffer brain injuries while in combat.
