Pediatric Life Care Planning and Case Management
I was very excited to receive today the second edition of “Pediatric Life Care Planning and Case Management” edited by Susan Reddick-Grisham and Laura M. Deming. Besides being an outstanding book with regard to life care planning, the book contains an update of my chapter entitled “Use of the Life Care Plan in a Lawsuit Involving a Child.”
I recommend the book to anyone interested in life care planning. There is an entire section on forensic considerations which includes not only my chapter but chapters on life care plans from a legal defense perspective, use of the life care planning expert in legal cases, establishing foundations for life care plan development and life expectancy.
Unfortunately, this latter chapter does not discuss in any great detail the controversy surrounding the life expectancy tables of Shavelle and Strauss. I therefore recommend that people interested in the topic consult the first edition of this textbook which contained an excellent article by Michael Kessler, Esquire.
