Push for Federal Funding for Brain Injury Research
Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. (D-N.J.) wants the federal government to pick up the pace when it comes to federal funding for brain injury treatment research. As I've mentioned in past posts, brain injury has become the signature wound of the war in Iraq.
In a report on MarineCorpTimes.com, Pascrell said, "About one in 10 service members in Iraq … return from combat tours with concussions. Experts say the real total is much higher because closed head injuries, in which there may be no obvious wound, often go undiagnosed.”
His goal is to help injured soldiers return to as normal a life as possible and allow them to get the continuing care they need. You can read the article here.
