Omega Three Fatty Acids Proved Unhelpful in the Fight Against Alzheimer's Disease
I saw a report on Good Morning America this morning discussing the link between omega three fatty acids and the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. While in the past it’s been believed that including omega three fatty acids in your diet will help to reverse the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, a new study states otherwise.
In the past, omega three fatty acids were believed to aid in the recovery of Alzheimer’s patients because the fatty acids included in foods such as salmon and tuna included essential fish oils believed to stop the progression of the disease.
In the new government run study, 400 patients were tested over an 18-month period. One group received two grams of fatty acid each day, while one group received a placebo. The results showed no difference in the outcome between the two groups.
