More Senseless Death and Injury to High School Football Players
Here is yet another news report of a massive head injury from a football game. Days after a 16 year old Matthew Van Geldren dies, another young man is afflicted with a traumatic brain injury that could have been prevented. Players, parents, coaches and referees need to be educated as to the serious lifelong damage that can be done when proper safety precautions and are not implemented. Robert Aton's football days are most likely over now and it did not have to be. I find it so very frustrating when I read day after day of more and more people who suffer head injuries that could AND SHOULD be prevented.

Robert's season was not over. He was released to play the last 3 weeks of the season plus one playoff game. In game one, Robert ran for 3 touchdowns, blocked one kick and force a fumble. In game two. He blocked a kick and when the quarterback was injured, he stepped up and threw 3 touchdown passes. In game 3, as quarterback, he threw 4 touchdowns and was named player of the week and to the all region team as middle linebacker. In the playoff game he threw 3 more touchdown passes and a 44 yard 4th down conversion. Robert is a success story for overcoming adversity not a poster boy for your cause.
