Marine May Have Had Brain Injury
While I've mentioned several times before the need for increased attention and care to be paid to traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder in soldiers returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan, a recent instance sheds new light on the urgency for this increased support.
The case of the United States Marine who kidnapped and killed and Iraqi civilian has raised new questions as to the mental state of soldiers while still in service. Cpl. Trent D. Thomas was exposed to more than 25 bomb blasts during his three tours in Iraq, and medical experts believe this may be a large factor in Thomas' judgment.
