Device May Help Detect Concussions
Researchers are working on a device that could help detect concussions sustained during sporting events. The device, called DETECT (Display Enhanced Testing for Cognitive Impairment and Traumatic Brain Injury), compares post-injury response times to readings taken when a player is alert. This would allow coaches and trainers to diagnose concussions right on the sidelines or in the locker room.
CNN reports that the device is still in the research state, but the hope is to make it available as soon as possible. You can read the full story here.
