Bruce H. Stern Speaks At AAJ Convention
I recently returned from San Francisco where I gave two presentations to the nation’s top trial attorneys at the AAJ Summer Convention. First I gave a presentation to the Melvin Belli Society, an organization of a select group of top trial attorneys. My topic was using visuals in opening statements. This presentation came out of an opening statement I gave at a recent trial in Burlington County where I successfully represented a pedestrian who was struck by a school bus.
Two days later I gave a presentation to the AAJ Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group. My topic was using scientific literature to prove traumatic brain injury and debunk defense myths. I have given this presentation many times in the past wherein I provided the audience with medical literature which debunks defense myths such as an individual must lose consciousness in order to sustain a traumatic brain injury, in order to diagnose a traumatic brain injury diagnostic testing such as MRI and CT scan must be abnormal, and mild traumatic brain injury is never permanent. I updated this lecture to include examples of how I use the literature in both direct and cross examination.
I invite everyone to attend the upcoming TBI program in New Orleans on September 18-20, 2013, sponsored by the North America Brain Injury Society (www.NABIS.org.)
