Brain Study: Concussions Caused Benoit's Rage

Researchers at West Virginia University and the Sports Legacy Institute have started to test a sample of former pro-wrestler Chris Beniot's brain in order to better understand why Beniot killed his wife, then his son and then himself in his Fayetteville, Ga. home the weekend of June 22.

Beniot's father, Michael Beniot, offered a part of Chris' brain for research in order to better understand why this tragedy occurred. Friends and family members of Beniot were stunned and say the events that took place were very uncharacteristic of Beniot.

Researchers believe the more than dozens concussions Beniot suffered during his wrestling career could have caused severe enough brain damage to cause Beniot to kill his wife, child and himself. Initial tests show similarities between Beniot's brain and that of an elderly Alzheimer's patient.
