Brain Injury Association of New Jersey - Walk for Thought and Cycle for Safety

Well it is that time of year again - The Brain Injury Association of New Jersey is once again having their Walk for Thought and Cycle for Safety event. The Association's Director of Development Jill Schulman asked me to let people know about this year's event which will be held on October 15, 2005.

Since Jill eats, sleeps and breathes this program, I can think of nobody better to speak about it. Here is an excerpt of her email to me:

The Brain Injury Association of New Jersey's signature awareness raising and fund raising Walk for Thought and Cycle for Safety event is on Saturday October 15, 2005, rain or shine! The day begins with registration at 9 am and the Cyclists begin to ride at 10 am. Walkers begin at 10:15 am. At noon there is a picnic lunch at Washington Crossing State Park's Sullivan Grove. New this year is the opportunity to pledge for your walker or rider on line.

In addition to individual participation, there has been increased interest in the development of teams and in setting up a friendly competition. Anyone can assemble a team to participate. This is a great way to bring professionals and families together or to set up a friendly competition among staff and friends. New this year is an online donation page that can easily be used to increase support and promote participation.

The team, and individual that raises the most money, will each be awarded a trophy during an awards ceremony and acknowledged on the Association's website and quarterly newsletter. The trophy will be an item that any individual or company would be proud to display to declare their outstanding achievement and commitment to brain injury.

The best way to organize a team is to ask an individual to be the team leader. The Brain Injury Association will provide the team leader with all of the necessary materials (pledge forms, posters, etc.) needed to organize a team and promote participation. Contact Joanna Boyd for more information.
